Tips for a successful Everest Base Camp Trek

Mt Everest,  being highest mountain on the Earth, every travel enthusiast and mountain lovers want to have a glimpse of it and this is the reason why it’s one of the most popular trekking destination in the World. Everest helicopter tour with landing has been trending considering the time it needs and the view it offers, trekking to everest base camp trek has more to offer from ancient monasteries, lovely teahouses, Sherpa culture, diverse flora/fauna and more over that magnificent Himalayan range from different angles throughout the journey.

As tourism holds a pie of total economy of Nepal, you can find numbers of trekking agencies in Nepal offering different trekking packages and the count is still going up.  So it’s difficult to identify genuine trekking company as some may scamp people and ruin your time and money.  Before booking your trekking package, make sure to know about trekking companies, history of the company, reviews from past guests to understand the credibility it holds. Obtain detail information about lodging, fooding, guide, insurance,  and how they will manage trip in adverse condition. This doesn’t  mean you should doubt every trekking company, but to have some information for your safety and best experience, it is recommended to choose the best trekking company for you.

 

Acclimatization

We suggest you to acclimatize properly and on the natural pace.  Regardless of stamina, energy and excitement, it’s not idea to complete trekking in a rush.  Even a tight schedule, it’s very important to acclimatize properly and understand your health risk and elevation shift to avoid any potential risk. Be patient, follow your guide instructions by hear and always be open how you are feeling during trek so that you guide can suggest or plan accordingly.

 

Trekking Gears and Clothes

It’s highly recommended to buy all the trekking gears in Kathmandu and make sure you have got all what you need.  Either you’re carrying your baggage or your porter, don’t overpack and carry only those things that are important and necessary.  Do some research before regarding what you really need to take but don’t forget to pack basic essentials like medicines, sunblock, charger,  prescriptions, rain gear, camera,  shades etc. You can find lots of trekking gear shops in Kathmandu in various price range and better to buy in Kathmandu than in Everest region as it will be more expensive out there. As another option, you can even rent gears, sleeping bags for the journey too.

 

Take care of your feet

As you will be trekking over 6 hours on average per day, take care of your feet during the travel.  Make sure to wear comfortable shoes to avoid bad blisters as it can disrupt a trek as altitude mountain sickness. Take proper medicine of hacks to treat discomfort during the trek and follow guide on how should you walk in different elevation so that it gives some sort of technical comfort.
