Trekking to the biggest in Nepal-Rara Lake TrekNatives of the region

Far-west highlands in Nepal are not yet explored by that many trekkers. Trekking in the region is just like a traveling back to mid nineties when the western mountaineers explored other Himalayas regions of Nepal. The impact of modernity is still miles away from the isolated places in Rara Region. Natives in every village do not open totally because of some kind of fear or curiosity they gather on seeing a trekkers equipped with modern gears. However, they are kind and hospitable- once they open, their pure hearts undoubtedly delights every trekker.

The region has the very old history of civilization. The stele and architectural remains of first Malla Empire in Rara Region are found in the very ancient monuments in almost every valley of the region. The ancient trading route between Nepal and Tibet that stretches from Dolpo leads to the highland Rara Lake, which is the largest lake of Nepal.

Camps set by Explore Dolpo during the trek to Rara Lake

Camps set at the peaceful lake shore

From the lake we cross the Great Himalaya Range and chase the Karnali River through aromatic passes to Humla, which eventually leads to the Tibetan border and the western end of the Great Himalayan Trail.

The trek is tough, rarely trodden trials, tough geographical conditions and no sign of human life in miles. However, we being the natives of far-west Nepal are committed to promote the western Himalayas in the world tourism market and we have invested our life and resources to generate the another gold-rush, i.e. Tourism in the region.  We have efficient guides, we cater every services and amenities required for fully organized trek and we are committed to trekker’s safety in our home. Space in some campsites will also be very limited.
