Jumla to Dolpa via Kaigaon

Day 01: Kathmandu to Nepalgunj

Nearly one hour flight takes you to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu. Nepalgunj is the main trade centre for the western Nepal. Here you will have a night rest in a hotel to take the early morning flight the next day. The hotel is 10 to 15 minutes drive from the airport.

Day 02: Nepalgunj to Jumla (2540m)

The flight from Nepalgunj to Jumla takes nearly half an hour and can have a good sightseeing if the weather is good. Jumla is the head quarter for Karnali zone. There are many government offices and non-government organizations. You can visit some of them.

The only technical school Karnali Technical School is also here. This place has its own importance for Nepalese because the Nepali language was originated from here.

Jumla has very good climate for paddy so a special breed of paddy is grown here. There is one very popular Hindus temple of Chandan Nath Baba.

Day 03: Jumla to Gothichaur (2650m)/ 6-7 hrs

The trek begins from Jumla to Gothichaur. There are several villages and the motor able road is under construction. Depal and Garjyagkot villages are mostly mostly of Chhetri people is on the route.

The route goes in the valley by the side of river Tila. Now the government has started sheep farming with special breed from Newzealand. Once there was an airport too.

Day 04: Gothichaur to Chotra (3380m)/ 5-6 hrs

The way from Gothichaur to Chotra goes through several villages. One can experience the different culture mostly of the Khas people around. There are small woods along the road.

Day 05: Chotra to Maure Lagna (3894m) to Neulighat (3670m)/ 5-6hrs

The trail from Chotra ascends towards the pass Maure and then the trail goes descending to Neulighat for the night stop. The trail goes mostly through the mixed forest. One can have nice scenic views around from the trail.

Day 06: Neulighat to Kaigaon (2610m)/ 4-5 hrs

From Neulighat the trail goes to Kaigaon through Chaurikot of Dolpo. The trail is winding with some descends from Neulighat.
There are several villages of mixed culture and several small streams along the route. Finally you will reache to Kaingaon a beautiful village surrounded by pine forest around.

Day 07: Kaigaon to Ghodakhor

The trek will be very fine though you have the trail is ascending and winding. The trail goes through the wood of pine and silver Bircth. After the ascending trek for up to Balangra the trail goes down to Ghodakhor where we stop for the day.

Day 08: Ghodakhor to Tripurakot (2100m)

The trek from here towards, you can have mixed experiences because the villages on the way are of different communities by casts. Tripurakot Is one of the holy place for Hindus. There is a temple named Bala Tripura Sundari which is worshiped and respected by all Hindus.

Day 09: Tripurakot to Juphal (2470m)

The trail goes crossing the river Bheri towards Juphal. You can have some mountains’ views while walking through the trail. At the ending point you have to go through a bit ascend up to the air strip of Juphal.

Day 10: Juphal to Nepalgunj and Nepalgunj to Kathmandu

Here you will end your trek and taking the early morning flight for Nepalgunj and then back to Kathmandu on the same day.
