Spring Special Trek to both base camps of Kanchenjunga is a challenging trekking adventure in Nepal that best suits to experienced trekkers who can endure the hardships that come across during the camping trek to Nepal’s remotest highlands.
The trek goes through Illam, which is the world’s best tea producer.The trek is long enough to exhaust trekkers, and hence patience is mandatory during the trek. However, the pleasant trails full of colorful species of rhododendrons and diverse species of birds offer you energy to go further towards the Base Camps of magnificent mountain of Jewels, Kanchenjunga, which is also the third highest peak in the world. The closest views of entire Kanchenjunga Himalayas along with Chumila Himalayan Range and Kumbakarna Glacier are the rewards noteworthy enough to remember rest of the life.
Additionally, the cultural aspects trekkers get to see throughout the trek is so fascinating and unique that every western trekker would instantly fall in love with the natives who are so content with their traditional culture despite of hardships of several kinds.

Mountains like Kanchanjunga (8598m), Yalungkhang (8509m), Jannu himal (7770m) etc can be found. Jannu Himal is considered as Holy Mountain so we don’t have authority to climb. Rivers like Mewa River, Kaveri River, etc are famous river in this region.

  • Day 04:Mitlung to Chhirwa (1270m)/ 6-7 hrs
  • Day 05:Chhirwa to Sekatham (1660m)/ 6-7 hrs
  • Day 06:Sekatham to Amjilosa (2510m)/ 6-7 hrs
  • Day 07:Amjilosa to Gyabla (2730m)/ 6-7 hrs

  • Day 23:Kheswa to Lalikharka (2276m)/ 5-6 hrs
  • Day -24:Lalikharka to Suketar (2300m)/ 4 hrs
  • Day 25:Suketar to Kathmandu/ flight
  • Day 01: Kathmandu to Bhadrapur then drive to Ilam (3636m) Tea Garden visit.

    Flight from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur takes 45 mins driving in a private car/jeep takes 4 hrs to reach Ilam. Ilam is one of the famous tea gardens in the eastern region. Ilam tea is famous in the world.

  • Day 02: Ilam to Taplejung drive (1780m)/ 5-6 hrs

    On this day, we are taking a local jeep from Ilam reaching Taplejung via Phidim, Gopetar in around 5 to 6 hours. The road goes crossing the river Kaveri several times. Overnight stay at Taplejung.

  • Day 03: Taplejung to Mitlung (921 m)/ 5-6 hrs

    Our next destination is Mitlung. Way to Mitlung from Taplejung is normal. It takes around 5 to 6 hrs to reach there.

  • Day 04: Mitlung to Chhirwa (1270m)/ 6-7 hrs

    The trekking starts from Mitlung to Chhirwa. We can see mountain ranges like Kanchunjunga and Kumbakarna (Jamu) from the trail. The trail is all the way lightly ascending with series of up and down. The trail goes through some villages and Rhododendron forest. One can observe the cultivation of cardamom on the trail. It takes 6 to 7 hrs to reach Chhirwa.

  • Day 05: Chhirwa to Sekatham (1660m)/ 6-7 hrs

    Today the trail goes through the check post Tapethok. We can see some villages on the way. It takes around 6 to 7 hrs reach Sekatham.

  • Day 06: Sekatham to Amjilosa (2510m)/ 6-7 hrs

    On the way to Amjilosa we can see Mewa khola which is by the side uphill. We can find some teahouses. Overnight at Amjilosa. It takes 6 to 7 hrs to reach our destination.

  • Day 07: Amjilosa to Gyabla (2730m)/ 6-7 hrs

    We should have to trek by the side of river Mewa and through Jungle. Some teahouses can be found at Phale. Our main destination is Gyabla which takes around 6 to 7 hrs to reach.

  • Day 08: Gybla to Ghunsa (3595m)/5-6 hrs

    Again we should have to trek Riverside road and jungle. On the way we can see many villages. Our main stop is Ghunsa. It takes around 5 to 6 hrs to rech there.

  • Day 09: Ghunsa – Exploration day

    Today we are visiting Ghunsa village and view mountain ranges. That can be most memorizing moment of the trek. Overnight stay at Ghunsa.

  • Day 10: Ghunsa to Khambachen (4089m)/ 5-6 hrs

    We should have to go through jungle and khola (river). It is bit difficult trail to reach Khambachen and it can be reach arund 5 to 6 hrs.

  • Day 11: Khambachen to Lonak (4785m)/ 4-5 hrs

    On this day, we find no any teahouses on the trail. The trail goes uphill, narrow valley shore. We can see Kanchanjunga, Janu, Yalungtang, etc. It takes around 4 to 5 hrs.

  • Day 12: Lonak - Day hike to North Base Camp/ Pang Pema (5143m)/ 6 hrs

    It takes around 6 hrs to reach Pang Pema/ North Base Camp and get back. Barren land. Overnight stay at Lonak.

  • Day 13: Lonak to Khambachen (4089m)/ 4-5 hrs

    Today, the trail goes in descending and narrow valley. We should have to come back to Khambachen. That takes around 4 to 5 hrs.

  • Day 14: Khambachen to Ghunsa (3595m)/ 5-6 hrs

    On the way to Ghunsa, we can find Tibetan culture. To reach Ghunsa, we need 5 to 6 hrs trek.

  • Day 15: Ghunsa to Selela (4290m)/ 5-6 hrs

    The trail is uphill through jungle. Rhododendron and pine can be found. The trail is in ascending. It takes 5 to 6 hr to reach Selela.

  • Day 16: Selela to Cheram (3870m) via Mirgin pass (4700m)/ 7-8 hrs

    Today, the trail goes through Crossing Mirgin pass (4700m).It is uphill then descending. We can see the beauty of Makalu, Kanchanjungaetc. It takes 7 to 8 hrs to reach Cheram.

  • Day 17: Cheram to Ramche (4580m)/4-5 hrs

    Narrow valley, can see the mountain ranges. We can see yak, mountain goat, mountain blue sheep, musk dear etc. It takes around 4 to 5 hrs to reach Ramche.

  • Day 18: Ramche – Day hike to Oktang South Base Camp (4730m)

    On this day we do hiking walk to Oktang South Base Camp. It takes around 2 hrs to reach there and ½ hrs to get back to Ramche.

  • Day 19: Ramche to Tortang (2995m)/ 7-8 hrs

    Downhill straight jungle nearby Indian boarder Sikkim/Darjeeling. The trail goes downhill and normal. It takes around 7 to 8 hrs to reach Tortang.

  • Day 20: Tortang to Yamphudin (2080m)/ 7-8 hrs

    Our next desination is Yamphudin. We can see jungle uphill up to Lashi danda then downhill. Teahouse at Lashidanda. It takes 8 hrs to reach our destination i.e. Yamphudin. It takes around 7 to 8 hrs to reach there.

  • Day 21: Yamphuding to Mamangkhe (1920m)/ 7-8 hrs

    We have to walk through the villages where we can find Limbus and Gurung community. The trail is ups and downs which takes around 7 to 8 hrs to reach Mamangkhe.

  • Day 22: Mamangkhe to Kheswa (1490m)/ 6-7 hrs

    Today, we have to walk through villages. The trail is ups and downs. It takes around 6-7 hrs to reach Kheswa.

  • Day 23: Kheswa to Lalikharka (2276m)/ 5-6 hrs

    The trail is ups and downs through jungle. It takes around 5 to 6 hrs to reach Lalikharka.

  • Day -24: Lalikharka to Suketar (2300m)/ 4 hrs

    This is our last day of trek. The trail is ups and downs and we have to cross through jungle to reach Suketar. It takes around 4 hrs to reach there.

  • Day 25: Suketar to Kathmandu/ flight

    On this day, we have to take a flight from Suketar to Kathmandu.
